README for iSpy-WebGL 2016 DVD

These instructions are for offline use of iSpy-WebGL and the .ig data files for the CMS Masterclass 2016. They are 
available from the DVD or direct download:


* https://github.com/cms-outreach/ispy-webgl/archive/0.9-masterclass2016-rc5.zip for the event display
* https://cms-docdb.cern.ch/cgi-bin/PublicDocDB//ShowDocument?docid=12868 for the data files


1. Copy the .zip file for the event display to the directory of your choice and unzip it.

 

2. Offline, iSpy-WebGL runs best on recent versions of Firefox or Safari. Online, you can use these browsers as well 
   as Chrome.

3. If using the DVD, copy the data file(s) you will use onto your hard drive rather than run them from the DVD.



4. Open your browser to file:///{directory where you unzipped 
   0.9-masterclass2016-rc5.zip}/0.9-masterclass2016-rc5/index.html and open the index.html file in Firefox or Safari.

5. To view the events, choose the “File” icon at top left, choose the “Open local file(s)” option and choose a file.


6. Ignore the button to download files from the web when running offline as it is ineffective. Always choose local 
   files when running offline.
